The Blue Rider

The circle was named after the almanac edited by Wassily Kandinsky and Franz Marc. Along with the editors, Gabriele Münter, August Macke, Marianne von Werefkin, Alexej von Jawlensky, Vladimir and David Burliuk, Elisabeth Epstein and many others played important roles. Their groundbreaking works, extensive international connections and often unconventional ways of life established the Blue Rider as one of the most influential artists' groups of the modern era.
