From Baghdad to Brooklyn

1. The only memoir we know of addressing the Jewish-Arabic immigrant experience, Marshall's book provides a metaphor for the possibility of re-unification among these ancient, related cultures. It should glean major Jewish American interest and appeal to anyone looking for memoirs about New York. 2. Marshall's description of his discovery of the New York Public Library, and the possibilities all those books opened up, is a magical and persuasive tribute to the power of literature. Bibliophiles and young artists will find great inspiration in this book. 3. A nonfiction Fortress of Solitude for an earlier generation.
