Between self-determination and external control

Why do people teach German as a foreign or second language For the money To help others For fun Because they're good at it To fulfil their potential Because they want to Because others want them to Or are there other reasons behind their behaviour In this book, practitioners of German as a foreign or second language are interviewed in depth. The self-reports, analysed using content analysis, are interpreted in the light of self-determination theory from the field of motivational psychology. The research findings pay tribute to a uniquely human characteristic.
